Marine Elastin

Marine Elastin is a natural fish derived product which has intense anti-aging and moisturization benefits (helping to retain moisture).  Elastin is a protein in the skin that helps tissues regain their original shape after being stretched. Many components from underwater species such as Marine elastin may be the best source of elastin for our skin and can help to diminish the appearance of wrinkles.

Collagen and elastin are proteins in the skin that decrease with age. These proteins start to decrease as early as our 20’s and aged skin becomes more noticeable over time. Collagen and its importance to the skin are well known however Elastin is just as important. This large fibrous protein is formed by spiral filaments that are often compared to springs. These elastin fibers can stretch up to 1.5 times their length and snap back to their original shape. Elastin is primarily comprised of amino acids and is essential for the shape of our bodies, allowing tissues to regain their original shape.

After the skin stretches, these amino acids aid in bringing the skin back to its original shape due to their interlinking chains. This unique interlinking is ultimately responsible for elastin’s flexibility. These flexible chains allow for the formation of a flexible film on the surface of the skin and hair that enhances suppleness and helps retain moisture.
